1) What Is Offered in Online Elementary French With EZ-Teach?
EZ-Teach offers our online French class twice a year - once in the Fall and once in the Winter. We’ll break down the who, what, and where, and when below. We’ll cover cost and other frequently asked questions as well!
Who is our elementary French class online for?
This class is meant for students in Grades 1-4 who want to learn basic French. This is a class created specifically for homeschooling families who need the help of an experienced teacher, but it can also function as tutoring for students of the same age whether homeschooled or not. Our online format allows families to continue homeschooling on their own schedule while adding a class in the week where their kids can interact with other kids who are also homeschooled!
What happens in elementary French classes online?
Students will participate in a 30-minute weekly French class where a new lesson will be taught and previous lessons will be reviewed. You’ll find that the 30 minutes fly by and that families and teachers often end up staying longer for the fun!
Activities include songs, videos, and games so that kids stay active and engaged. Our classes are small and parents are involved as well so that they can help guide their kids throughout the week. After the lesson, students and parents have access to our Google Classroom where materials are provided so that kids can review lessons and practice more throughout the week if they like.
Please note that there are no grades or testing. The main goal of the French class is to get kids excited about learning another language. If testing is a concern for you, however, let your teacher know and something may be arranged.
Where is our elementary French class online held?
Our class is held online via Zoom. We communicate through email as well as through Google Classroom. Parents are encouraged to come to class or to help their children navigate through Zoom and Google Classroom should they need to work independently.
When is the class?
The class times will be determined by the teacher and parents. Ideally, your French class would be scheduled early in the week in the morning. For example, this Fall we held our French class on Mondays at 11 am.
How long is a session?
Our classes run in the Fall and Winter and there are 12 classes each session. Our first sessions runs from late September to mid-December before the holidays and our second session runs from late January to early May. We don’t meet on holidays nor during the public school holidays so that parents are free to travel and spend time with family and friends.
How much does the elementary French class online cost?
For each session, our 12-week class currently costs $150 plus HST per child. That works out to about $14 a class plus additional assistance for review throughout the week. That is a pretty great deal because we want to make education at home EZ!

2) Can Kids Learn French Online?
Absolutely! Kids can learn French online effectively, thanks to interactive and engaging tools designed for young learners. Here’s why and how it works.
Online programs often use games, videos, and interactive exercises to make learning fun. This creates excitement so that kids enjoy the learning experience. Many platforms adapt to a child’s pace, ensuring they grasp concepts before moving forward and many provide children access to native French-speaking teachers or tutors. Plus, kids can learn from the comfort of home, fitting lessons into busy schedules.
With consistency, online learning can help kids build confidence and fluency in French while keeping them engaged!

At EZ-Teach, we aim to make learning easy and fun - so lots of games are involved!
4) How Do We Teach French to Elementary Students?
At EZ-Teach, we try to keep things simple. We start with the basics. Students will be introduced to the French alphabet, including accents and phonics. Then we move on to introducing French vocabulary with a natural incorporation of grammar. Students gradually learn subjects, pronouns, verbs and adjectives as they build vocabulary.
Wondering about specific topics taught? Here is a sample of the topics included in our elementary French class online:
French Greetings
The Alphabet
Numbers
Colours
Days of the Week
Basic Verbs
Animals
Family Members
Pronouns
Body Parts
Weather & Seasons
In general, the emphasis is on oral French since many students are just beginning to read and write English if they are in Grade 1 and 2. The blend of students from different grades is helpful as older students often end up modelling the learning process for younger learners.
